THE NATIONAL POSTAL MUSEUM
Those who are able to visit the National Postal Museum will find all the lovely and curious philatelic gems described in this volume, the study of which will add to their pleasure and interest. Of course, there are thousands of other exhibits in the Museum.
Another purpose for which this book was written was to bring those unable to personally examine the collection a vivid illustration of all that went into the great reform brought to the Post Office by Rowland Hill and the reasons for the many and varied alterations to the postage stamps issued during the long reign of Queen Victoria.
The reader who is interested in social history will find much that is new to him; should "print" be his subject he will read the story of the development of mass security-printing in colour; the stamp collector can enjoy the examination of great rarities in his own home and new paths for study and discovery are opened for the enthusiastic philatelist.
THE NATIONAL POSTAL MUSEUM is situated in King Edward Building, King Edward Street, LONDON, EC1A 1LP. King Edward Building which also houses the London Chief Post Office, is 150 yards from St. Pauls Underground Station. The Museum is open Mondays to Fridays 10 a.m. to 4.30 p.m., except for Public Holidays. Admission is free and special facilities can be provided for group visits by philatelic societies, schools etc.
